What are the Minimum User Permissions Required for MSSQL Cluster?
MSSQL Always ON:
To be able to create a ScaleArc Cluster the Root (SA or SA equivalent) user in Always ON cluster must have following securables settings selected:
- View Any Definition
- View Server State
These privileges should be provided to the User if we would like to Add the user in Always on cluster In ScaleArc.
MSSQL SQL Mirroring Replication:
We can create a ScaleArc cluster with a user who has Role as Public and with just the "Connect" Privileges.
But the Failover will not be able to sucessfully complete. This Fails as the user doesnt have the "ALTER" privileges which are required by ScaleArc to perform the Auto-failover.
In order to sucessfully complete the failover the user must have the Following privileges on the DB`s Added in the Users & DBs:
- View any definition.
- View server status.
If we are not using the Database Fail over at all, we can create a cluster with a user who has Role: Public and with just the "Connect" Privileges.
