Why we cannot clone some threads which contribute to high CPU/mem.
Thread cloning is now available in newer versions of Scalearc. But all threads cannot be cloned. Only those threads which contribute to traffic can be cloned.
This can be better explained with following practical steps which are used for thread cloning in Scalearc.
Let us try to clone a non-traffic thread like the CMT (Cache Manager Thread). Even if such thread is found to consume very high cpu - it cannot be cloned. When you click on the particular thread under CPU distribution for the desired cluster - it is seen that the "Clone" option does not appear. Only "Move Thread" is visible.
But if a traffic contributing thread is tried to be cloned you can see such option available - for example we select the SC3-ANA1 (analytics thread) and check if we can clone it further. Once clicked on it you see options as below:
Hence it is understood that only traffic contibuting threads can be cloned.
